Therapy in Hyde Park | Counselor Dr. Jacquelyn Johnson
I offer Christian therapy and coaching for Black women and women of color who are used to managing life without much room to fall apart. This work is for women who carry responsibility at work, at home, and in their communities while quietly holding anxiety, emotional fatigue, and spiritual questions about rest, worth, and asking for help. My approach honors your faith while making space for what you are actually experiencing beneath the surface.
Hyde Park is a neighborhood shaped by history, long-standing home ownership, and strong community ties. Many women here are balancing demanding schedules, caregiving roles, and deep family responsibility. There is often an unspoken expectation to keep going, stay grounded, and not complain, even when stress begins to show up in the body, emotions, or sense of self.
Women in Hyde Park seek out this work when holding everything together no longer feels sustainable. You do not need to reach a breaking point to deserve support. This is a space where your inner life is taken seriously, without judgment or pressure to perform strength.

01
Clarify what’s no longer working
We’ll explore what’s bringing you in, the weight you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping will feel different. We start by exploring the patterns, roles, and beliefs that have been keeping you stuck in over-functioning, burnout, and emotional disconnection, especially those shaped by faith, culture, and performance.
02
Reclaim your voice and emotional truth
Together, we’ll begin to untangle the internalized narratives that say you have to be strong, silent, or selfless to be worthy. This is where you’ll practice honoring your needs, setting sacred boundaries, and telling yourself the truth, without shame.
03
Redefine your life from the inside out
As healing unfolds, we’ll build a more honest, faith-affirming relationship with yourself and your emotional world. You’ll walk away with tools to support your growth, rhythms that restore you, and a renewed sense of spiritual and emotional alignment.

Christian Counseling for Women
LEARN MOREChristian therapy supports women who want emotional care that aligns with their faith rather than competing with it. Many women come in feeling torn, believing they should be able to handle everything through prayer alone or worrying that needing support means they are failing spiritually. Over time, this work becomes a space where belief, doubt, exhaustion, and honesty can coexist without shame.
Sessions often explore burnout, anxiety, emotional suppression, perfectionism, and the pressure to always be strong. We look at how these patterns developed and how they may now be costing you rest, connection, and peace. Sessions are offered virtually, making support accessible for women in Hyde Park who need flexibility and privacy while navigating full lives.
Executive Coaching for High-Achieving Women
LEARN MOREExecutive coaching is designed for women who carry leadership in visible and invisible ways. This may include managing teams, leading in ministry, running households, or being the emotional anchor for others. The focus is not on pushing harder, but on creating leadership practices that are sustainable and aligned with your values.
Coaching sessions offer structured reflection, boundary clarity, and support around decision fatigue and emotional overload. This work helps you lead without disappearing yourself in the process, with virtual sessions that respect time constraints and real-life responsibilities.
Anxiety Therapy for High-Achieving Women
LEARN MOREAnxiety therapy supports women who feel internally tense even when life appears stable from the outside. Anxiety may show up as racing thoughts, irritability, physical tightness, or difficulty resting. For many women, these patterns developed as a way to stay prepared and in control in demanding environments.
Our work focuses on understanding how anxiety lives in your body and nervous system, not just your thoughts. Over time, many clients feel more grounded, less reactive, and better able to rest without guilt.
Depression Therapy for High-Achieving Women
LEARN MOREDepression therapy offers support for women who feel emotionally disconnected, numb, or quietly discouraged while still functioning day to day. Depression does not always present as sadness. Sometimes it looks like exhaustion, lack of motivation, or moving through life on autopilot.
Sessions create space to process grief, disappointment, and unmet needs at a pace that feels safe. Many women experience renewed emotional connection, increased self-compassion, and a stronger sense of internal steadiness through this work.
Therapy for Perfectionism
LEARN MORETherapy for perfectionism supports women whose standards for themselves feel relentless. Often shaped by expectation, visibility, and survival, perfectionism can drive success while quietly draining joy and rest.
This work focuses on loosening the link between worth and performance. Together, we explore how to build flexibility, boundaries, and self-trust without fear of failure or letting others down.
Life Coaching for Women
LEARN MORELife coaching supports women who feel capable yet unclear about what they want or need next. This work is especially helpful during transitions, seasons of reevaluation, or moments when life looks fine externally but feels misaligned internally.
Coaching focuses on values, direction, and intentional decision-making without urgency or pressure. Sessions are forward-looking and supportive, helping you move with clarity rather than force.
Therapy for Executives
LEARN MORETherapy for executives provides a confidential space for women in leadership roles to process stress, emotional isolation, and identity concerns. This work respects the reality of being responsible for others while needing support yourself.
Sessions offer a place to speak freely, without managing perception or holding everything together, so leadership becomes more sustainable and less isolating.
Therapy for Black Women
LEARN MORETherapy for Black women centers lived experience, cultural context, and emotional truth. This work acknowledges strength fatigue, emotional labor, and the lack of spaces where vulnerability feels fully welcome.
The focus is on rest, honesty, and reconnecting with yourself beyond survival mode in a space that honors both who you are and what you carry.
I serve women in Hyde Park
I work with women in Hyde Park and nearby South Los Angeles communities who carry family responsibility, work demands, and community involvement with little margin for rest. This area is shaped by long-standing homes, strong family networks, and everyday leadership, including nearby neighborhoods such as Manchester Square, Inglewood, and View Park Windsor Hills, close to corridors like Crenshaw Boulevard and local neighborhood parks. For several years, I have supported Black women and women of color here through faith-integrated care that respects emotional reality, cultural values, and spiritual life. By offering virtual sessions, I reduce common barriers like travel time while remaining deeply committed to serving women in this community with steady, thoughtful support.

FAQ about my counseling services
How does virtual therapy work?
You’ll receive a private video link to join at the scheduled time. Many women say they appreciate being able to connect from their own space, making it easier to stay consistent and open.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly. Some clients use the receipts I provide to request reimbursement, though results depend on each plan. Others choose private pay because it gives us complete freedom in pace and focus.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
If you need to adjust your session, just let me know at least 24 hours before your appointment. This keeps things fair for all clients and helps maintain a steady rhythm for your care.
Is virtual therapy effective?
Yes. The effectiveness comes from the connection we build, not the physical room. Many clients even say they open up more easily from the comfort of home.
How do I know if this is the right fit?
Notice how you feel during and after our meetings. If you leave with more clarity, less weight, and a sense of being understood, that’s a strong sign the fit is right. My goal is to provide that kind of space consistently.
