Therapy  in Ladera Heights  | Counselor  Dr. Jacquelyn Johnson

I offer Christian therapy and executive coaching in Ladera Heights for high achieving Black women and women of color who are deeply capable, highly responsible, and quietly exhausted. This work is for women who lead in their families, careers, and communities while holding emotional weight that often goes unseen. My approach supports your mental health while honoring your faith, your leadership, and your humanity.

Ladera Heights is a community shaped by legacy, stability, and professional excellence. Many women here are navigating demanding careers, long term family responsibilities, and strong ties to church and community life. While there is pride in being dependable and accomplished, there are few spaces that invite you to slow down, release pressure, and be honest about what you are carrying beneath the surface

Women in Ladera Heights choose this work because they are ready for support that respects both their strength and their need for rest. You do not have to choose between faith and therapy, success and softness, or leadership and emotional care. Here, your needs are worthy of attention and compassion.

Ready to get started?

01

Clarify what’s no longer working

We’ll explore what’s bringing you in, the weight you’ve been carrying, and what you’re hoping will feel different. We start by exploring the patterns, roles, and beliefs that have been keeping you stuck in over-functioning, burnout, and emotional disconnection, especially those shaped by faith, culture, and performance.

02

Reclaim your voice and emotional truth

Together, we’ll begin to untangle the internalized narratives that say you have to be strong, silent, or selfless to be worthy. This is where you’ll practice honoring your needs, setting sacred boundaries, and telling yourself the truth, without shame.

03

Redefine your life from the inside out

As healing unfolds, we’ll build a more honest, faith-affirming relationship with yourself and your emotional world. You’ll walk away with tools to support your growth, rhythms that restore you, and a renewed sense of spiritual and emotional alignment.

FAQ about my counseling services

  • How does virtual therapy work?

I meet with clients through a secure video platform that’s simple to use. All you need is internet access and a private spot. Many women appreciate that virtual sessions save travel time and allow them to be more consistent in their healing process.

  • Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly, but I can give you a superbill to submit on your own. Some clients get partial reimbursement, though results vary by plan. Paying privately also means we can work together without the limits insurance companies sometimes place on therapy length or goals.

  • What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Life happens, and I understand that. If something comes up, I ask that you notify me at least 24 hours before your session so I can offer the spot to someone else. Cancellations with less notice may incur a fee.

  • Is virtual therapy effective?

Yes. Research shows that virtual sessions are just as effective as in-person therapy. Many clients find it even easier to open up when they’re in their own environment, which makes the process feel natural and accessible.

  • How do I know if this is the right fit?

The best way to know is by how you feel in the room, or in this case, on the screen. If you leave sessions feeling understood, supported, and challenged in a compassionate way, then it’s likely the right fit. My role is to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward with steadiness.
